Now that we've finished this Word 2010 course let's recap on what we've covered. We've looked at the Word program interface to understand more about the Ribbon and other features such as the Mini Toolbars and Task Panes. You also learned how to Customize the Ribbon by adding your own features to it. You've learned how to work with Files including Opening and Closing files and creating files from scratch and from document Templates. You've learned how to format text and type text into Bullet or Numbered Lists. We've looked at some productivity tools, such as Find and Replace, AutoCorrect and Quick Parts. We recorded a Macro and learned how to run it and add it as a button to the Ribbon. When looking at more advanced formatting, we learnt to use the new Text Effects and WordArt as well as Specialty Tools such as Hyphenation, Special Characters, Drop Caps and Hyperlinks. When looking at Paragraphs and Page Formatting we learned how to adjust Line Spacing, Align Paragraphs and set up the Page for the size paper that we're using. When working with long documents, special tools are required and we looked at Headers and Footers and Cover Pages, as well as Page and Section Breaks and Columns. All these are tools that make working with a long document much easier. Tables are a key feature in Microsoft Word and we learned how to create a Table, Format it and even make calculations in it. One of the most graphic features of the new Microsoft Word 2010 is its good looking styles and we saw how to change Style Sets, how Styles and Themes relate to each other and how to create and use Text Styles. When you're working collaboratively with others, Word has special tools such as Track Changes, that you can use to make your work much easier. And we looked at these tools not only in terms of working with others, but also when comparing documents and recovering unsaved documents. One of the most powerful features of a word processing package is its ability to create Mail Merge documents for incorporating a list of names with a document to automate the task. We looked at creating Mail Merge Letters as well as Envelopes and Labels and E-mail Merge. We also looked at the Graphic features in Word from the new Picture Effects to creating SmartArt and using the new Screenshot Tool. Finally, we looked at some Security Tools, such as being able to Password Protect a document and Restrict Document Editing as well as how to exchange documents with other Word users. Word 2010 is, of course, an extremely complex program but over the scope of these videos, my aim has been to give you a good look at the program so you can feel confident in your ability to use Word 2010 day to day in an office, whether you're typing letters or assembling large company reports and whether you're working on your own or in a busy corporate office.
