I'm Helen Bradley. Thank you for joining me for this VTC Learning Series on Word 2010. By now you've probably realized that I have an Australian accent, tempered by having lived in the United States for somewhat 12 years. My experience with word processing software dates back many years to the days of WordStar running on an earlier CP-M computer. I progressed through programs like DisplayWrite, MultiMate, AMI Pro and was fortunate to spend years working with WordPerfect 5.1, perhaps the greatest word processor of its time. I first came to Microsoft Office with the release of Word 6, which was about the time that graphic space word processors were replacing text-based programs like WordPerfect. As a consequence, WordPerfect was losing a lot of market share to Microsoft products. My job day to day is as a freelance writer and trainer. I write How To articles, Tips and Tricks and record videos just like this for computer applications ranging from Microsoft Office to Programming Languages like Visual Basic and JavaScript, through Web Design tools like Dreamweaver and I also write about Photoshop and Lightroom. My articles are printed in computer, photography and lifestyle magazines in Australia, the U.S. and the UK. I've been a contributing editor at PC Magazine and Making Memories Magazine. I've written 13 books on topics ranging from Spreadsheet and Database Learning Resources for Teachers, to Digital Scrapbooking and Creating Digital Photo Crafts. In addition to training and writing about office applications, I have a website at Projectwoman.com where you'll find articles as well as my blogs. These include an Office blog and a Photography and Photoshop and Lightroom blogs. I've really enjoyed developing and working on this Microsoft Word 2010 video series and I've been really impressed with this version of Microsoft Word with its functionality as well as its ease of use. I hope that you enjoy using it and the things that you've learned in working through the videos will assist you as you work with Microsoft Word 2010 every day.
