In this video we'll talk about changing your search engine in Internet Explorer 7. Windows Live is the default search engine for Internet Explorer 7. So when you search in the search box you're searching in Windows Live. However, you can change the search engine the search box uses. Here's how. Open Internet Explorer 7 by clicking the Start button and then clicking Internet Explorer. The Internet Explorer 7 window opens and displays the default home page. Click the down arrow button to the right of the search button. Then click Change Search Defaults. The Change Search Defaults dialog box appears and displays all available search engines. The default engine, which is the search engine the search box is currently using contains the word Default in parenthesis to the right of the name. You can find more providers by clicking the Find more providers link. A new Internet Explorer 7 window opens, and the Add Search Provider to Internet Explorer 7 page appears. Select a search engine from the list. In the Add New Provider dialog box click the Add Provider button. Close the open Internet Explorer 7 window. Select a search engine by clicking on a search engine in the list. Do so by clicking the down arrow button to the right of the search button. Then click the search button in the list. If you want to use this search engine every time you open Internet Explorer, click the down arrow button and then click Change Search Defaults. In the Change Search Defaults dialog box click the search provider you wan to make the default, and then click the Set Default button. Then click the OK button. In this example, the default search engine changes from Live Search to Google. The search box now displays the name of the search engine the search boxes uses when you search.
