The Windows Desktop / Finding Assistance & Troubleshooting
Subtitles of the Movie
In this video we'll discuss finding Windows Vista Help and troubleshooting information. Finding help and troubleshooting information in Windows is easy and a lot of the information is actually helpful. Here's how you access the Help and Support window. Click the Start button and then click Help and Support. The Windows Help and Support window appears. At the top of the window you'll see a number of icons and options including a list of more options at the right side of the window. Perhaps the most important is the Ask button. When you click this button the Get Customer Support page appears. This page includes a number of links to get more information about your problem if you can't find it yourself. Before you ask for help try getting support from the Windows Vista Help Database. The fastest way to do that is to type your search criteria in the search help box. After you type the search criteria the Help and Support window displays a list of topics and or questions that could match the problem you are having. For example, if I type printers in the box and then press Enter, the window displays the best 30 results for printer starting with Share Printer. Scroll down the window to see other topics. If you find the topic you are looking for, click that topic to open the topic page in the window. If you don't find the topic you can click the 30 more results for Printers page link to see the next 30 topics. If you type more information in the search help box you may receive fewer results and hopefully one of those topics is a close match with you question. If you don't find what you need, click the Ask someone or expand your search link, which takes you to the Get Customer Support page. You can return to the Help and Support home page and access other options by clicking the Home icon. The home page contains three sections starting with Find an answer. This section containsV links to six areas that you may use most from Windows basics and what's new to troubleshooting and finding help online. When you click the Troubleshooting icon the troubleshooting in Windows page appears with many troubleshooting options and several categories. And you can choose the troubleshooting topic that is related to your problem. If none of the troubleshooting topics fit the description of your problem click the No button at the bottom of the page because the help hasn't been helpful. You can then tell Microsoft why the help is not helpful.
