Personalizing Windows / Turn Windows Features On & Off

Subtitles of the Movie

In this video we'll discuss turning Window Vista features on and off. Some programs and features require some Windows services to work. For example, if you have the Windows Vista Business edition you may want to turn on Internet Information Services or IIS, before you install programs that require IIS turn run properly. If you don't use some Windows Vista features you can turn them off if you want. Here's how you can turn Vista features on and off. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel. Click the Programs link. Under Programs and Features click the Turn Windows features on or off link. Click the Continue button to open the Windows Features window. You have to wait for Vista to populate the features list. Currently installed running features have check boxes with a check mark or a square to the left of the feature name. Features with no check mark or square in their associated check boxes are not installed and are not running. Some features have plus sign boxes to the left of the check boxes. Click on the plus sign box, so open up secondary features underneath the main feature. Turn a Vista feature off by clearing the appropriate checkbox. Turn a Vista feature on by selecting the appropriate checkbox. When you're finished, click the OK button. Windows will configure the feature or features and you may have to wait a few minutes for Windows to finish processing the feature changes. For now click the Cancel button to close the Windows Features window.
