Personalizing Windows / Change the Theme

Subtitles of the Movie

In this video we'll discuss how to change the Windows Vista theme. Since Windows 95 was introduced, Windows has included display themes that represent a consistent theme across all visual elements. These elements include: the desktop wallpaper, window appearance, mouse pointer appearance and sounds. Windows Vista is no different and you can select an existing theme or create a new theme. Here's how. Open the Personalization window as you did in the Access the Personalization Window video earlier in this chapter. Click the Theme link. The Theme Settings window appears. The default theme is Windows Vista and the preview of the theme settings appears in the sample window. My theme is different than the default, so my theme is modified theme. Select a theme by clicking the Modified Theme button. The list of available themes appears. If you've made changes to the Windows appearance and or sounds such as changing the desktop wallpaper, the theme will be modified theme or my current them. You can save the theme by clicking the Save As button and then typing the new theme name in the Save As dialogue box. If you don't see the theme that you want, click Browse. The Open Theme window appears so you can browse to the theme you want on your computer and then click the Open button. For now, click the Cancel button. Apply theme changes by clicking the Apply button or the OK button. For now, click the Cancel button.
