Personalizing Windows / Change the Window Color & Appearance

Subtitles of the Movie

In this video we'll discuss changing the Windows Vista Color and Appearance. Change the Windows Vista Color and Appearance by opening the Personalization window as shown in the Access the Personalization Window video earlier in this chapter. Click the Window Color and Appearance link. The Window Color and Appearance page appears. Windows Vista contains eight color schemes from the default light blue to white, which Windows calls Frost. Transparency is enabled by default so the default color is actually no color at all. The window is transparent. As you change color, the window frame color changes with your selection. If you clear the Enable transparency checkbox, the window frame transparency disappears. You can set the level of transparency by dragging the slider bar to the left or right. If the slider bar is all the way to the left then the window frame is completely transparent. If the slider bar is all the way to the right, then the window frame is completely opaque. You can also change the characteristics of the color you selected by clicking the Down arrow next to Show Color Mixer. You can then change the hue, saturation and brightness of the color. If you want more color options, click the Open Classic Appearance properties for more color options link. When you click this link the Window Color and Appearance page closes and the Appearance Setting window appears so you can change the color scheme, the effects and other advanced features like setting the font sizes for the window text. Click the Cancel button to return to the Personalization window.
