Introduction / Logging On
Subtitles of the Movie
In this video we'll talk about logging onto Windows Vista. When you log on for the first time you don't have a password. If you have more than one user on your computer it is highly recommended that you have a password so you don't put your sensitive data at risk. Here's how to create a password. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel. Click the User Accounts and Family Safety link. Under the User Accounts header click the Change your Windows password link. Now click the Create a password for your account link. Type the new password in the New Password box. If your not sure about what makes a password strong enough to resist people trying to break into your computer click the How to create a strong password link. Retype the password in the Confirm new password box. Note that your password is case sensitive so if your password contains capital letters you must type your password with those capital letters. Type a password hint in the Type a password hint box, to help you remember what the password is. This hint will be visible to everyone who uses your computer. So be sure that only you know the answer to the question. Click the Create Password button. The next time you log on, Windows Vista will ask for your password to log in.
