Subtitles of the Movie
In this video we'll give an overview of Windows Vista, its requirements and its versions. Windows Vista is the 6th major release of the Windows Operating System since Microsoft released Windows Version 1 in 1985. Windows Vista comes in six editions to meet the needs of the wide variety of users that use Windows. However, all six editions require more computing power than previous versions of Windows. Microsoft classifies computers that run Windows Vista in one of two categories; Vista Capable and Vista Premium Ready. Vista Capable means that your computer will be able to run the basic features of Windows. Your computer needs to be running with an 800 megahertz processor with 512 megabytes of RAM. You also need a 20 gigabyte hard drive with 15 gigabytes free. You also need to have a graphics card that is DirectX 9 capable. Vista Premium Ready means that your computer will be able to run Vista's high-end features such as the Aero interface. To be certified as Vista Premium Ready your computer needs to have a 1 gigahertz processor and 1 gigabyte of RAM. Your graphics card must be DirectX 9 capable with WDDM Driver Support and at least 128 megabytes of RAM if you want 1,920 by 1,200 pixel resolution. Your computer will also need a DVD ROM drive and a 40 gigabyte hard drive. If your not sure about whether your computer can handle Windows Vista or not, you can access the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor on the Microsoft website. The six versions of Windows Vista are: Vista Starter, which is a limited version that will only be available to customers outside of the United States, Canada and Europe; Vista Home Basic which is similar to Windows XP Home Edition and doesn't include advance media support or the Arrow interface; Vista Home Premium, which includes Windows Media Center and other multimedia tools. This edition is comparable to Window XP Media Center edition; Vista Business, which is comparable to Window XP Professional and contains networking features such as Internet information services; Vista Enterprise, which is a superset of the Business edition and will be available only through the Microsoft Software Assurance program; Vista Ultimate, which combines all features of the Home Premium and Enterprise editions as well as additional features including special online services and multimedia tools. This tutorial uses the Ultimate edition so you can see all the features included with Vista. However, if you use another edition some of the lessons in this tutorial will not apply.
