We will be undergoing scheduled maintenance on May 20th, 2013 at 02:00 GMT.
Now there are three applications that got some attention in Windows 7 that you might think yeah, so what, big deal but you just need to be aware of these and that is Calculator got some pretty cool improvements. WordPad got a really cool one and Paint program. Now you probably may not use Paint that much, but I want to show you some things about Calculator and the WordPad. First of all let's open Calculator. So we will just click on the Start Button and you should see Calculator right here. If you don't see it you can click on the Programs down here, go to Accessories and you will Calculator right there. Now when you open Calculator, doesn't look terrifically different from what you've seen before. But I do want you to notice that if you click on View, you will notice some more styles here. First of all we have Digit Grouping which is turned On by Default which means that as I click numbers it'll put a comma in automatically and obviously I can go turn that off if I would like and those won't be in there, but most everybody likes those. Notice I can also View History and I can go up and down so if I have done stuff I can see History and you can see what I've done, OK? So I can see History. Now the next thing notice, I've got Standard and Scientific, we've scientific before. Then I have Programmer and notice I can get a lot more information out of here, I won't go into all this, you can go play with it and take a look at it. But notice DWords, Words, Bytes, Binary all that is still there, Hex is there, Decimal and then you can see Statistics, the dreaded statistics, OK? Now let's go back to Standard and I'm going to show something that is really cool and that is if you come all the way down here to the bottom you'll notice Date Calculation and if I choose that, notice I can choose a difference between two dates and so, we'll say from 10-25-2009, if I choose the drop-down I can go Next to say Nov 20, 2009 and if I calculate three weeks, five days or 26 days. Now there's some really cool stuff here. Let's go back out here and click on that and this time I will click on the Month and notice takes them to Months like this and if click it again I can move through the years, OK? And I can go to say the year 2024, go into June and choose June 6th and now when I calculate notice it's showing me 5,338 days, 14 years, 7 months, 1 week and 5 days. Pretty cool stuff right? If I click the drop-down I can add or subtract dates to a specified day and so I can add three months and 4 days and it'll show me what date that will be, adding it to this date or I can go grab this, go back in time a little bit to July and calculate it and there it is, OK? So that's the Date Function, pretty cool stuff right? Now come down to Work Sheets, really cool stuff here. Notice Mortgage, I can get a monthly payment, purchase price 34,555.00, down payment 342.00 and then I go 15 years the interest rate 3 percent, calculate, there's my payment. Notice I can also get purchase price termed, down payment OK? I can go back to View, go back to Work Sheets, Vehicle Lease, notice I can get a lot of information there. Go back to Work Sheets, Field Economy is really cool. I can get miles per gallon, the gallons used, the distance in miles on and on and on, some realty cool stuff, go out and play with Calculator. OK, there's just some neat stuff in there. Now, let's also now take a look at WordPad and if you'll go to All Programs, go into Accessories, now you might have to scroll to come down to Accessories and Open WordPad. One thing you're going to notice right away, we got the ribbon in WordPad, just like in the Office Products. Now, that's OK, kind of cool, right? But here's the really cool one, with WordPad now I will click right here, I really can't understand the funky button up here, but they don't ask me these things. Notice I'm going to click Open and I will go into my Libraries, into My Documents and I will scroll down and I will open a file called Perception and notice that is an Word 2007 DOCX file and you guessed it, it opens, OK? Now really cool stuff. Now they are warning you that not all the features will be there, but you can open the DOC files alright? And then one last one, if I click on Start and go to All Programs and go to Accessories, one of other thing if I open Paint, you'll notice Paint also got the ribbon, OK? And Paint has some cool things that has changed here that you can work with from inside Paint and I'll let you go out there and play with those and figure them out, OK? But some really cool stuff has happened, even system - kind of small, what you might think of as insignificant programs, but there's a lot of people who use these and especially some of that stuff in Calculator is really, really cool, OK? So that's just kind of some, some hard to classify things that have happened in Windows 7, that I wanted you to be aware of.
