Now let's talk about the system requirements for Windows 7. Now you will need to understand these when and if you take any of the certification exams that will eventually show up on Windows 7, OK? Now first of all the good news, if you're currently running Windows Vista then you are already in place for Windows 7. Alright? So tests that have been done by various people have consistently shown that Windows 7 out performs Vista on similar hardware configuration. Now we're not talking about blistering out performance but we are talking about better performance OK, and everything seems to work. Now I will tell you that I have had some issues in playing with Windows 7 on older laptops, but the only issue that I'm really having is first of all on the graphics, you don't get the full Aero Glass support if you're video card is very old or especially for a lot of cases unless it's a newer laptop, any kind of embedded video card seems to not show the Aero Glass. Everything works fine you just don't get all the really cool graphics effects. Also the only other place it seems an Achilles heel at this point for Windows 7 and its way early so understand that, I'm not being too critical here, I'm just trying to let you know what's going on, has to do with audio cards. Now you've seen a lot of stuff out there on some of the message boards and forums about problems with audio cards with Windows 7, but those things will be cleared up in time as drivers come out. The only really problem I've had with audio is actually getting it to record cleanly, but that's again spotty between different machines and I've loaded this thing on probably five or six different machines. But let's talk about system requirements now. First of all there are two versions a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of Windows 7 and you'll notice the differences here. The processor for either 64-bit or 32-bit is 1 gigahertz OK, or faster and they are saving 1 gigahertz should be the slowest. For the memory they're suggesting 1 gigabyte for RAM for the 32-bit, 2 gigabytes for 64-bit, OK? So again these are their minimum recommendations. Now for disk space, on 32-bit machines you'll need roughly 16 gigabytes OK, of available disk space, 20 gigabytes on a 64-bit machine, OK? Now I didn't put this on the slide but one of the things you're going to have to have to get the Aero Effect or the Glass Effect OK, you'll need a Direct X 9 Graphics Device with Windows Display Driver Model 1.0 or higher, OK? But we'll talk about compatibility later and you'll be able to figure this out. Now, let me go ahead and tell you one other thing. Now these are the stated things right here that you will have to answer on Microsoft's certification exams when they come out on this product, OK? Now even though they're suggesting you have a Gigabyte of RAM and you have to have you know a really fast processor and all this will run on much less well equipped machines OK? Now you won't get the Aero Glass Effect and it will be slower OK, but you can stick this on older laptops. I loaded this on a laptop that's got to at least 4 years old and it ran I just didn't have the Windows Aero Glass Effect OK? So, that's your basic system requirements, if you meet these you should be fine, again, this is going to really help you in the Microsoft Certification world a little bit later on but there's your basic system requirements for Windows 7.
