First of all, you might be wondering why Visual Studio opens up a web form as the first page of the web application. Reason for that is web applications have to display HTML to the user, so that the user can see the application working in their browser. What the application does is send HTML, plain text, images and so forth, to the user and from that the user can make choices, make selections, and submit using a form, in order to interact with the application. On the server, the web application makes use of data sources such as databases, programming code or scripting code, and all of the other elements and resources that are part of the application. to process the user inputs and then feed back to the user, HTML once again, so the web form is the primary vehicle by which the web application and the user interact.
