The .NET documentation is really, really nice with this; and once you download the SDK and install it, I want to show you what you'll have on your machine. And, I just want to kind of point you know couple of quick directions on what to do with it. Notice to get to it, if I go to start, programs then you'll notice Microsoft .NET Framework SDK. Then I fly out from there, I will get documentation, overviews, samples and quick start tutorials and tools. Now obviously, let's go to documentation first and this thing comes up in an MSDN kind of a format. And you'll notice here that some general information, but the big thing is right down here in this section. Notice getting started. If I click on getting started this is going to take me to - notice a chronological way of telling me how to deal with the new thing in .NET. So first thing I want to do is read the overview of the .NET Framework. And this tells me exactly what the Framework is and what it's here for. There is some graphics in here, trying to help you understand what's going on here, they talk about the class library and so forth. And how these things work and then when I finish that, if you notice now at the bottom I can go to make some programming with the .NET Framework; notice over on the left side I can expand this and get into all the different aspects of this. And then just step through these, notice about the documentation, product support and so forth. Building applications, notice the reference section is excellent. Notice here's the class library. And this talks about the class library and different things that I can see in here and notice there is the list of the classes. Now let's go back out to the start point and take a look at something else that was out there in the SDK. And there is an overview here, and if I go to the overview this is going to bring up a page in the web browser for me. And notice again this thing is for people who are new to .NET Framework. Here is the documentation, the quick start tutorial and samples. Notice they show you on this quick starts exactly what to do, how to load them up, how to run them, the different tutorials, notice common language run time fundamentals I'll click on that one and we'll take a look at it. Notice it generated a new window. Notice the .NET Framework and you just kind of step through this, and when you get to the end you go next and you read the different aspects of it. So plenty to read, lots to catch up on but Microsoft really did a good job of providing documentation on this thing. Load the Framework SDK, get out in the documentation and start to read, print some of this stuff out Just start to read. Now next we are going to dig into .NET a little bit. We are going to talk about the common language runtime, what it gives us, what it does for us, and how it makes .NET be .NET. So I'll see you there.
