Now we're ready to discuss the finished product, creating the executable file and deploying your application. Actually every time you have successfully compiled an executable program, Visual Studio has been creating an EXE file that could be used as a stand alone file automatically. You can find this file in your directory by going to the location where your folder and solution files located open your folder and you'll find other folders and files. The folder, the bin folder, should be opened which will then yield two other folders, the debug and release folder. Open the Debug Folder, you'll then find the application file, you will find the EXE file as well as an application file that can then be used as a stand alone file. From this you could right click and send to the Desktop to create a shortcut if you wish and you could then run the project from an environment that is the Windows Environment but not within Visual Studio. So, all the user would have to have is the .NET Framework on their machine, but they would not necessarily have to have Visual Studio. We're you are ready to deploy your application or distribute your application among other computers you can return to your project and you can use a process called Deployment. Visual Studio contains full features for deploying an application and Visual Basic 2005 introduce a new way to publish a project called click once deployment. You access this by clicking the Build Menu and then you'll find an item called Publish and then the name of your application. By clicking the publish Menu Item, that will launch the Publish Wizard which will give you the option as best finding a file path, a web site or to publish to a FTP Server. Other Media Options for distributing your application are available through CD Rom or DVD or through a File Sharing Network or Via the web. You can also have the program check for updates on line. If you deploy to a folder on your system you'll find a setup.e application inside the folder, try copying the folder to a CD and then install on your program on another machine. Following these steps will take you through the process of deploying your application to a another machine and you'll have a fully executable stand alone project.
