Introducing Visio 2007 / Uninstalling Visio 2007

Subtitles of the Movie

Because Microsoft Visio 2007 has been installed by using its single-user license model, legally you're required to uninstall Visio on one computer before you install it on a second. Therefore, I'd like to show you how to uninstall the product, should you every need to do so. Now, the specific step here is going to depend a little bit on your client operating system. If you're running Microsoft Windows XP, you'll want to open the start menu, navigate to settings, control panel and open up the add remove programs control panel item. However, I'm running Microsoft Windows Vista and here it's just slightly different. We still want to access control panel; however instead of add remove programs, in Vista the control panel option is called programs and features and to save a little bit of time, I've already brought that up for us here. What we'll do is scroll through the alphabetized list to find Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007, or if you're not running the professional version, yours will be there, and just for grins, I'll scroll over here and we'll see that my installation is costing me a little under 700 megabytes. It's fairly substantial for a single application. Now, we notice here in Vista we have our uninstall button. It looks a little bit different in Windows XP, but basically you'll get the same options. You can select Visio and then select uninstall. You'll notice that the Microsoft Office Visio 2007 setup program runs and asks us, are you sure you want to remove Visio 2007 from your machine? We'll answer yes. And the uninstallation will proceed, hopefully, to great success. And we're complete. When the product has been successfully uninstalled, we'll see this screen that you're seeing right now, Microsoft Office Visio 2007 has been successfully uninstalled. That's great. We'll click close and you may or may not be prompted for a system reboot. The good news is that we can select no if we don't want to reboot. Let's close out of our programs and features and verify the product is gone. We'll open start programs, Microsoft Office and sure enough, I have my other Office 2007 applications there, but no Visio. It looks like the process was successful.
