So we are going to produce a company template now. Once that's produced, we could distribute that to all the staff in the company who are producing drawings, and it provides them then with a standard environment, including drawing pages, page settings and the company stencil. So the drawings they produce will come out according to our company's corporate communication standards. So let's get our page setup worked out. We start up a new page, and for these drawings we are going to use landscape orientation. So I am going to pick File>Page Setup, and we are going to go to landscape. Also we use letter size paper, I will just select that, and click Apply. Then as far as the stencil goes, we want the company stencil to appear when our employees start to work on a new diagram. So we will need to open our company stencil, which we saved down here, and I'd like to also include here of course the company logo and some background, and we can put a background page on to include all of that information. I just right click on the page number here, and go insert page - now this one's going to be a background page, and I click OK. There we have it. Now, to put the company logo on, we can drag it there from the company stencil. And to put a background design, let's open the background stencil. I will select one and drag it on. We will need to take that to the back - if I go Shape>Order>Sent to Back, we get our company logo appearing on top there. And we can now attach that background to our first page. So we can go up to File menu and select Page Setup again, select Page Properties, and here we want to attach the background page. So we select that there, apply, and now the backgrounds come through onto our drawing page. When finished with the background stencils, so I can close that. And that about sets up our design for our company; we must save that now. Clicking on the Save button, we are prompted to do so. Now if we want to have this template readily available, the place to save it is in the Solutions folder. And that there is the default path that Visio installs it within program files, Microsoft Office Visio, Extras down to (under) Solutions, and then we can create one under Solutions here - we have number of different options, and we can create our own folder for example if we want to make one for 'our company'. And we will just call this the 'company template'. If you wish to save it in another location, you certainly can have it accessible by selecting the correct option on the Tools> Options dialog box. Now I just click Save - well first though I have to select the right type of document, and we are making a template here, so I select that one. And then click Save, enter any document properties that we require, clicking OK and that's now saved there as a .vst file. Let's try that out. I will close that template there now, and if we go File>New>Choose Drawing Type, you will see we now have an option here for 'our company'. Clicking on that, the 'company template' becomes available. I now click that, and our new document opens there in the Visio window - you can see there it is down as drawing22. It's important when you do this to make sure that the default printer settings are according to what you require. So under Page Setup here, in order to get letter and landscape as we selected in our template, we must also have that set as our default printer settings.
