In this movie, let's take a look at some of the great add-ins available for Microsoft Publisher. Now, an add-in is an extra little program added to Publisher so that way you can do something a little extra with the program; something that's not just by default installed. And some of these are added later on as people request them from Microsoft. One of those add-ins is a pdf format and we'll go look at that so you can try that out. First, let's look in your Publisher. To be able to tell what add-ins you have, go up to the tools menu and then click on add-ins. Right now you can see I don't have any add-ins. If I already had it downloaded, I could just click add and then find that executable file and get it in there. Let's cancel out of here, cancel out of there, let's go up to help and let's go out to Microsoft Office Online. This is where we can find these add-ins. Let's go to the products area and let's type in pdf format, Publisher 2007. Let's scroll down and see if we got anything. Here we go. 2007 Microsoft add-in, Microsoft save as pdf or xpf. And here's another one. Let's do the one where we have two options. You'll notice it has a down arrow. Let's click here and it will take us to our download center. Give us some details. You'll want to read through that information. And I'm going to switch this and hit continue. What it's going to do is validate my version of Microsoft Office and here we go. So now we need to click download. And what I'm going to do is go ahead and run it. I know it's from Microsoft, I know it's secure, it's what I want. So you just have to keep going through their information. I'm going to run again and my computer is going through this. I can hear it working. Now, of course, I've got to accept the license agreement. I'm going to check there to do so, click continue and now we're installing our add-in. You'll see it run through the progress, get all the things that you need, just like any typical download. And our installation is complete. So let's close out of here. Let's close out of there. Now let's open up Publisher again and let's open up one of our documents. Let's go to file and see where it says publish as pdf or xpf? Click that and right here is where it gives us the save as type. Pdf, of course, for Adobe Reader. Click publish and here it goes making a pdf out of it for me. And tada, there it is. Comes right up in Adobe Reader. A lot of times you'll need that add-in because people don't have Publisher or they don't have a program that can view your documents. So save things as pdf files, especially if it's forms people are filling out or just data that they're reading because it makes it easily printable for them and it helps them just making it easier on them because they don't have to find a special program to download. Everybody's got Adobe Reader. It's free. So take advantage of that add-in and any time you want to check your add-ins, just go to tools, add-ins, go to add some more that you may download. You'll notice ours just already installed. That's why it's not in there. And go out to Microsoft Office Online and look for some other add-ins. But go out there, try to download this pdf add-in. It'll definitely save you a lot of grief later on for people may who can't understand your document or see your document, so take the time to do that so that way you can work with it.
