Start a New Project / Set Non-Working Time
Subtitles of the Movie
As you define your projects of course not everyday is going to be a working day and our project calendars are based on standard calendars that we can set and configure and create our own calendars. What I want to show you in this module is how to change the working time and make exceptions or allow for exceptions for those days in a standard calendar, really that aren't going to be working time. So again to do that as you just saw go to the tools menu and click on this option right here, change working time, that brings up this dialog box titled, change working time and then you can set the working time exceptions for different calendars. The 2 4 hour calendar for example doesn't have any non working time because after all it's 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Night shift treats things a little bit differently, I would bet that most of your calendars are going to be based on standard calendar which has an 8 am to 5 pm, working day with one hour of unpaid lunch time that is in effect on that calendar and of course show you through out this tutorial how to modify that standard calendar. But let's say your basing your project on a standard calendar, an 8 hour workday etc, and you know that in the calendar here you're going to have an exception and that on May 28th your workers are not going to be in the office that day because that day is going to be a Labor Day or a Memorial Day and in the start 5-28 if you have it selected in the calendar it makes it easy because all you have to do is hit the tab button and it automatically has a start date and a finish date. Well what if you give your workers two days off maybe for Labor Day, you have a personal day or a company holiday and you just so happen to select it for that day as well. You can set the finish date here and then you're going to click on ok, so there we go and if you look at your calendar you should also be able to see if you look at the week of May 27th 07, you also see this grey area is bigger then it looks for other weeks and that is Monday and Tuesday are grayed out, they are non-working days. So let's go with that right now with a project that starts on May 1st, so let's also set some non-working time for that project or in our calendar that this project was based on that will have Monday and Tuesday 5-27 and for 5-28 and 5-29, the Monday and Tuesday will have those days as a non-working time. If I go back to my tools menu and change working time, you can go ahead and delete that, select it, pres delete here, otherwise you'll see in your calendar that the days you set as exceptions are color coded as such.
