Not all the Images that you bring into your PowerPoint Slide Shows will be corrected and looking as good as you want them to be. PowerPoint has a number of features that you can use to improve your Images and these are available from the Picture Tools Format Tab if you have an Image Selected. I'll Select this Image, Picture Tools, Format Tab. From the Corrections Dropdown List you can Choose Options such as Sharpen and Soften, this allows you to make your Images look Crisper or Smoother. Sharper Images are Crisper because their Edges have been enhanced. A Softer Image will look a little Dreamier because it'll have a Light Blur applied to it. You can also Adjust Brightness and Contrast using the Brightness and Contrast Options. Mouse over each of these Options in turn and you'll see it Applied to the Image underneath. I'm going to Add 20 percent Brightness and 20 percent Contrast to this Image, it'll give it just a little bit of a boost. You can also Select the Picture Corrections Options Dialog, this allows you to Sharpen or Soften the Image by Dragging on Sliders, to see this Choose Corrections and then Picture Corrections Options. Here we have Sliders instead of Presets, so I can Sharpen the Image by Dragging on the Sharpening Slider to get more or less of the Effect that I want. And I can Adjust Brightness a little bit more or a little bit less. And I can Adjsut Contrast by Dragging on the Slider or Clicking on the Arrows to Increase it or Decrease it, one percent at a time, when I'm done, I'll Click Close. Two other Changes that you can Apply to an Image which fall more into the category of Correcting the Image rather than Adding an Effect to them, are Changing the Color and Saturation. To do this with the Image still Selected, let's Choose the Color Dropdown List, here we can Apply a Saturation Effect to the Image. We can increase the Saturation so that we Boost the Intensity of the colors in the Image or Reduce it. And when you Reduce the Saturation to zero you get a Black and White Image. We can also Select, Color Tone, Color Tone allows us to Warm or Cool and Image and you can see that it's measured in degrees Kelvin. A Cooler Temperature results in a Bluer Image, we call it a Cold Image. And a Higher temperature gives us a Warmer Image, it throws some yellow, pink tones into the Image and we call this a Warmer Image. A Cooler Image is more Blue. Like the other corrections, there are also individual Sliders that you can use for Saturation and Color, Choose Color and then Picture Color Options. And here we have a Slider for Saturation so we can Increase the Saturation if desired and we can also Increase the temperature to Warm up our Image. Typically you would Warm Images rather than making them Colder, Warmer Images are more inviting and more pleasing to the eye, when you're done Click Close.
