Introduction / Using PowerPoint Views pt. 2
Subtitles of the Movie
The fourth area that we have is the notes view. I'm just going to click here and make this just a little bigger so we can see what's going on. Notice then when I did that, I resized this, the slide area is automatically resized. So here, notes page. This allows you to type speakers notes that are related to the particular slide. Now, you can print these notes and use them as an aid for when you want to give your presentation. These are an aid for you; things that you may want to remember. Or, you can also print your presentation as a handout and these notes here will show up for your audience so you can use this to present additional information or perhaps some of the main points that you want to get across to share with your audience. Now, the next view that we have is called the slide sorter view and we'll go over here to our view tab and there it is right up top; slide sorter view. And this gives us another set of thumbnails of our slides where we can kind of get an overview of where slides are and how they flow. Now, this again, you can click, drag, rearrange, delete, so forth and so on. I'm going to undo that. So you can see from here how your presentation is coming together or more likely not coming together and you can do some quick and easy rearranging. Now, the last view that we have is called the slideshow view and this view, I'm going to give you warning, is going to suck up the entire computer screen and will actually look like a real presentation. Now, this is handy to see how the presentation is going to look to your audience and you can see transition, animated effects, so forth and so on. So how do we do that? You go to slideshow and just by hitting the spacebar or any of the arrow keys, I can navigate through my presentation just to see how it looks on the big screen. End the slideshow, I'm going to click to exit and we're back to the slide sorter view. Now, let's go back to our home here and before we move on to the next lesson, there's one more thing I'd like to tell you about regarding views. What if you prefer to work in another view, like the notes view? Things should get back to normal here. There we go. Where were we? Back to changing things around a little bit. So let's say we like to work in the outline view and how do we do that? First, we need to change our default view and your default view is the view that automatically launches when you open PowerPoint. Off the shelf, your default view is the normal view. Now, to change the view or the default view, go to our Microsoft Office button, click, we're going to look at PowerPoint options, right down, here we go. And on the left side we're going to go over to our advanced tab and open all documents using this view. So we now have the options of normal with thumbnails, outline, slide sorter, so forth and so on. So just pick one, click OK and away we go. I'm going to leave mine the same, resize this and on we go to our next lesson.
