Subtitles of the Movie

Working with an existing presentation; let's say you need to work with your company's preset backgrounds and logos, colors or so forth and so on or you want to save yourself some time and cannibalize a real killer presentation you put together a few months ago. Well, if that's the case, then you're going to want to learn how to work with an existing presentation. And what I mean by that is you're going to use a previous presentation as the basis for you new presentation. Again, with PowerPoint 2007, they make this very easy to do. First thing's first. We need to go up to our Office button, click once, click new for new presentation and we have several options here. What we want to do is under the templates heading, scroll down to new from existing. And what this is going to do is take an existing presentation and essentially make a copy of it for us to work in. And I'll click once and it's going to open up my computer and it's going to look for where I have PowerPoint presentations. Well, my particular file structure is kind of a mess. I don't have presentations set aside. So what I'm going to do is go to recently changed, since I've been working with PowerPoint lately and I'm going to pick a presentation that I want to base my new one on. So let's work with slide library, click create new and there we go. Now, you may think I just opened up the original slide library presentation and if I make any edits, it's going to ruin the original. Well, to check that, go up to your title bar and notice that this is called presentation seven. Now, this number's going to be different for each of you. I've worked on seven versions of this today, or seven new documents, so this is number seven. Yours could be anywhere from one to infinity, depending on how busy you are. The original is called slide library and if I was working in the original, that title would be up here in the title bar. It's not. This means we have a new copy of the original and from here I can simply start making my edits to create the new presentation that was based on an existing presentation.
