Getting Familiar with PowerPoint 2007 / Using the Presenter View
Subtitles of the Movie
The presenter view allows you to run your PowerPoint presentation from two monitors. Well, unfortunately, I can't show you how that works here because I need to have two video cards; one for each monitor, installed on my computer and also we don't have the ability to record off of two computer monitors. However, I did want to introduce the concept to you so you can keep it in mind the next time you have to make a presentation in front of a large audience. In a nutshell, here's how it works. Let's say you're at the podium enthralling your audience with your knowledge of widgets, they're oohing and aahing over your beautiful PowerPoint skills. Of course, you tell them that you've learned those skills from this tutorial, right? Anyway, using the presenter view, you can run the presentation from a laptop computer on the podium and then have a second computer display the presentation to your audience. Now, working from your computer on the podium, you can see a preview text of what your next slide is going to look like without your audience seeing that and you can also view thumbnails and rearrange the slide order on the fly. So it's like you have a separate control panel that the audience doesn't see and, as an addition, your speaker's notes are displayed on your computer in a much larger size so you can actually use them as a script during the presentation. Another neat feature is that you get to see the elapsed time since the start of your presentation, so you can keep track of just how long you're going. Anyway, those are just a few of the features that you have at your disposal when using the presenter view. For more information on the hardware requirements and how to get set to run in presenter view, go ahead and consult PowerPoint's help by clicking the question mark to launch help and then go ahead and type presenter view in the search box. This'll give you all the tips when you're ready to go.
