Creating a Presentation / Creating New Slides

Creating New Slides. Once you decide how you want a presentation to be laid out, for example if you want to use a design template or a blank presentation, you will then at some point need to create new slides. After all, design templates don't actually create slides for you. It creates the first one, but then after that you are on your own. And even if you use AutoContent, there will still be changes that you want to make. You may want to delete slides and recreate some slides and some different features that way. So, how do you add slides to a presentation? The good news is it's really simple and there are a few different ways that you can do it. First of all, I have started out here with a basic presentation. This is my title page and that's all I have so far. You will see nothing else in the slide pane here. So I am ready to create a new slide, so I can begin working on my content. The easiest way to do it is probably to access the "new slide" button on your toolbar; you will see it here. If you click "new slide," you will see that the next slide appears in the list as number 2, and it's ready for a title and text that you might want to add. You can also change the formatting, and we will talk about that in an upcoming tutorial. Aside from using the single button click, which is probably going to be the easiest way, there are few other things that you can do as well. You can click insert - new slide, and you get the same result. And if you will access either the outline pane or the slides pane, you can right-click an existing slide and click "new slide," and you see the option it's created. You can do the same thing here, as well, and see another slide has been added. At this point, all you need to do is click on the slide that you want to work on and begin changing it and working on it as well. Now remember, as you are working on slides it's easy sometimes to get them mixed up. You can always move slides around and reorganize them, and you can always click the slide sorter view to see a bigger view of your individual slides, and then you can move them around as you want here. As you can see, you can easily rearrange them, create new slides, and right-click any slide and click delete in order to move it completely out of the presentation, and that's how you create new slides.
