If you plan to run your presentation or view your presentation on another computer, basically all you have to do is save your presentation on a disk or something or that effect, take it to the computer that you want to run it on, open up their Powerpoint and open up your file from the disk. Boom run your presentation - you are good to go. However if computer that you are taking your presentation to does not have Powerpoint-2000, well then you've got a problem. Because if you take your presentation to a computer that does not have Powerpoint-2000, you will not be able to run your presentation. Unless if you go to the file menu and choose pack and go. There is a pack and go wizard that comes with Powerpoint. Basically what this means is, you can save your presentation and everything that is needed to run the presentation, take all of that information to another computer and even if that computer does not have Powerpoint you will be able to view the presentation. Let me show you what I mean. You basically work your way through the wizard - which presentation do you want to package. You can choose the one that you are working on or some other presentation - I can browse for it. I can choose where I would want to copy the files to. Do I want to copy it to the A drive or somewhere else - I can browse. Do I want to include linked files, things like photographs that I have inserted, other pictures. If I brought in an Excel chart I would have to have that checked. I can also embed the fonts - which means if I have used a font that the computer that I am taking my presentation to doesn't have, you wont see the font. You will see the default, which is usually Times New Roman. Next - do I want to include the viewer or not. If you don't include the viewer and you take your presentation to a computer that does not have Powerpoint, you wont be able to view it. So, if the computer that you are taking your presentation to does not have Powerpoint include the viewer. And then you are finished. When you click finish everything will be put together in a nice little folder: the images; the fonts; the viewer - everything will be put together for you. So when you take your presentation to another computer, you just double click on your presentation and "boom" it runs for you. And that is how the pack and go wizard works. And you can always run it again if you need to make any changes.
