We'll wrap things up in the brief look at Entourage with something that I would imagine is of concern to a great percentage of the people that use Entourage and that is simply being able to synch the information that it keeps with other devices, especially mobile devices. This is certainly a big concern of mine, no matter what program I use to manage email and contacts, how can I get this thing onto my phone or my PDA and so on and what's the best method to do so? So I'll just give you some options here and, of course, if you're synching with an Exchange server, you have kind of a whole other subset of synchronization options, especially when it comes to maybe Windows mobile devices, so maybe, for example, you use Entourage on your MacBook and connect to an Exchange server and then synchronize that information on the Exchange server with a Windows Mobile device. So you kind of have one foot in the Windows world and one in the Macintosh world. That's certainly not unusual today. But there's also ways to just keep a Macintosh synched with other devices, to kind of keep Entourage synched with the Mac, which can then, in turn, using iSync, sync with mobile devices and again, the idea here is just to get you started in the right direction. So to do this, the button clicking is rather straightforward. Just go to the Entourage menu and you can find this under Preferences and here there's a category under your journal Preferences called synch services and you can synch your Address Book in Mac, your events and tasks with iCal and .Mac and you can synchronize Entourage Notes with .Mac if you have a .Mac account. Once you have things synchronized from Entourage to iCal or especially to your .Mac account, it really opens up the flood gates as far as synchronization goes. So this would be, for example, a first step in synchronizing Entourage information with a mobile device. The second step would be to open up iSync and that program there will try to detect a mobile device. And here I don't have a mobile device attached right now. I do have something else which I'll show you in just a moment, but then you can sync devices using, of course, this application here. So I'll shut that down right now. That again is where it starts. You could also sync if you've got an iPhone. So if you're thinking I've got an iPhone, I want to sync it up with Entourage, there is a way to do that and again, it kind of goes through this an intermediary and it also uses iTunes. If you've got an iPhone or an iPod, you already probably have a pretty good understanding of how to sync up your iPod and your iPhone with iTunes and there is the ability here, as I show you this, so I've got my iPod attached right now and what I could do with my Entourage information is that I could sync it up with iCal and with .Mac and then I could sync up my iCal Calendars. So that's how you would get information from Entourage onto your iPhone or onto your iPod. I would sync up Entourage with iCal and then sync up iCal with my iPod or my iPhone. Got it, follow it, of course you do. It's really not all that complex. It's actually more complex to just keep the terminology straight than it is to actually implement it because you can implement it by going bing, bing and the apply and sync up everything and it should work magically, but the, the big point in all of this is that it starts with these three clicks. You want Entourage information on a mobile device, sync it with .Mac slash iCal and you're well on your way.
