Getting Acquainted / Express Tour: Part 1

Subtitles of the Movie

The main FrontPage window displays all of the standard elements of a windows program. Not all the elements are visible in every view, and you are able to customize or configure the window to turn certain elements on and off. In this tutorial and the one that follows, we will be taking a very quick express tour of these various features. Then as we go through the course, we will learn how to use each of the items contained within the Microsoft FrontPage window in more detail and depth. At the top of the program is located the menu bar. To choose a common task, click on the item - for example click on file, and a list of commands will appear. These commands should be familiar to people who have used the Microsoft Office program. However, if you are not familiar with Microsoft Office products, I will explain each of the commands as we go through the program. Located directly below the menu bar is know as the toolbar. The toolbar contains a list of various buttons and icons and a combination of both. These items will display commands that you will be using when you are creating your images. The toolbar currently right now is on two lines. The second line is a toolbar and the third line is also a toolbar. In the next chapter, we will learn how to customize these various features on the toolbar. Located on the left hand side of your screen is the views bar. The views bar will allow you to view various items within the Microsoft FrontPage program. The first item is the page view, where you are able to view the current page or pages that you are working on. Folders will allow you to have access to the folders and files that you have created when you are working on your FrontPage website. Report will give you access to various reports regarding your website such as usage reports, number of visitors to your site. Directly below reports is navigation. Navigation will display for you the navigation structure of your site, and it will let you add navigation buttons to your pages. Directly below is the hyperlinks. Hyperlinks will allow you to view the particular hyperlinks that you have created for your website. Directly below this is the task management, where you can create and manage tasks. The main section of your screen is located here, in this white area. This is where the bulk of the work will take place when you are creating a website, in this particular area here. And you are able to make this space larger by hiding this particular area over here, or by dragging it across to increase the space. Let's now move onto the second part of the tour in the next tutorial. onto the second part of the tour in the next tutorial.
