In this movie, I wanted to talk to you about pdf links. Adobe provides a free pdf reader so that people can create files, convert them to pdf and anybody can read them basically. They just have to download them and they've got them. Now, you can create pdf's by having special programs. You can also do it just by using OpenOffice or Microsoft Word. You just have to have the add-in for that. Now, here's an example of a pdf. It's got a link for it. What I do is click on it and it'll automatically open for me within the Adobe Reader program. As you can see in this pdf, I can click around through it. I can click the plus signs. It's got bookmarks, it's got page navigation. I've got all kinds of options here. And up in the title bar there you'll notice it has pdf, which means Portable Document Format. What I can do is go back to my Expression Web. What I can do is actually link to my Adobe file. So I'll highlight that. I'll go to Insert and Hyperlink and what we'll do is go to our work files and grab one of these items so we can put a link. So let's save it and let's preview. Right here you can see my link. If you check on the status bar it tells you it's going to a pdf file and ta-da! What's nice is you don't have to do anything besides save it in a pdf. It's got all the toolbars for you, all the elements at the site, etcetera. So take advantage of that. If you have any files that people are going to want to print or download and read, especially if they're lengthy, simply make them into a pdf and then make a link to that.
