Subtitles of the Movie
In this movie, let's take a look at the Help Options available in Expression Web. It's something we can always use and we usually need it when we're in a hurry, so let's make sure that we know how to use the elements. Right up here is a Search Dialog Box that we can use to type in anything. If we need help with Styles, we can type that in, hit Enter and then here comes up our Expression Web Help Dialog Box. You'll notice we can maximize that if we want to to take over the whole screen and we can also restore it. That's one way to get to the Help Items. We can also go to Help on the Menu Bar. We could press F1 and we can then click the option. You'll notice right here, again, we can type something in. Let's type in tables. Then what it does, it brings us up several articles that we can read. We can read the Tables Overview to learn more about it. Scroll down through there. What's nice is that a lot of these at the bottom they'll send you to also related concepts so you don't have to look around more. You can continue to learn. You can hit the Back Button, just like in a web browser, to go back where you came from and also forward. The Stop Button is there in case something would continue to run and run and wouldn't stop, it wouldn't connect. You can stop it and you can also refresh the page just like you do in any web browser. The Home Button takes you back to the beginning of the Help and How To for Expression Web. You've got Printing Options and you can even change the font size so it's easier to read if you need that. You also have a typical Table of Contents. Some people like to do that rather than search. They want to read all about pictures, so they run through that entire set. The other item you have here is a little thumbtack. If it's pushed in, it means it tacked on top, which means I can pull it over here and still work with my pages and read through my instructions. I can also click that and when I come over here, see how it hides itself? It's not there. So I can go back to the Help and start over. So if you have it pushed down, which is typically the default, it will keep it on top so you can work side by side. While you're in there, if you come up something else that you want to work with, you simply type it in, hit Search and it will find you the information. You can hit the Down Arrow beside the Search Option to look at past things that you've looked for and you can also hit the Down Arrow there to see what exactly that you are searching. That's the Expression Web Help within our program here. We can also go to Help and we can choose Microsoft Expression Web Online. Expression Web Online simply takes us to their website so we can look around and find different things that we need. Right over here they've got some options, over here also some of their options. They've got a lot available online. If we go to Help again, we've got Extending Expression Web. This is where you can start taking a look at the forums and the communities and the release information and the update information. All of that is available online so you can learn more. Make sure you keep up with the latest updates, etcetera. You can do the Expression Web Newsletter to learn about new events and things like that. Under Help you can do the Contact Us so if you have a problem or you want to contact Expression Web, that again will take you out to their website. Also the Privacy Statement that basically is simply a statement saying that they're going to keep your information private so if they're gathering your emails, your names or they're tracking what you're working on, that they will keep that information only for them. If we need to activate the product, that's where we can click that. You'll notice that mine has already been activated. I've purchased it and activated it so I don't have to do that now. The Privacy Options, if you click that, whether or not you want to participate in the Experience Improvement Program and about keeping your system running so you can do that if you want to. Under the Help Menu too is the Community. It will take you right out there to the Expression Web Community within Microsoft. And finally, About Expression Web. This is where it will have your product information, what version that you have, etcetera. I always tell people, go to the About under Help if you don't know what you got. It will tell you right there what versions, what services packs, etcetera. What's nice is they even add a little extras on this one. You can go to the System Info. What it will do is go out there and gather all of your system information and give it to you in a nice screen because somebody may be having problems with Expression Web and then they can go through this system and go find the issue. And you've got Tech Support links and items that are disabled if there's anything disabled within your Expression Web. Now, another thing that I would always do if I need assistance with a product or if I'm learning about a product, I would go out to any search engine and I would type in, like, Expression Weblog. And this would take me to somewhere where somebody's blogging about Expression Web and hopefully people are interacting with them. So I can scroll through that, look at a lot of information and see how people are working with it. Another thing I might look at is the Expression Web Wiki. Again, that will give me a lot of good information to work with and things that I can see and read about with Expression Web. It'll tell me how to stay up to date, other software that works with it, etcetera. And of course you have the option of emailing me if you ever get stuck in Expression Web. I can always help you out, so feel free to email me. So now that you know about all the Help elements, take a minute just to run through those, just a few minutes within your program so that way if you ever do get stuck at any time, you'll be able to run to that really quickly and get the right answer.
