Once you have insured that your computer meets Microsoft's minimum system requirements you can then install Microsoft Office or just Microsoft Excel. You can purchase either product online at Microsoft's Website, or you can visit a physical storefront to purchase the product. When you purchase the product from Microsoft you will have the choice of having the product either downloaded to your system or to have a DVD of the product sent to you via the mail. Either way, once you load the DVD into your drive, or you initiate the download process, you should see the installation Wizard for Microsoft Office, or just Microsoft Excel, automatically begins running. If you do not you can locate the setup file within the DVD or the downloaded files and then double-click it manually to begin the installation process. If you are using Vista this will cause the User Account Control dialog box to appear asking if you initiated this program. Go ahead and click Continue and that will open up the installation wizard for the Microsoft Office product. Next you will be presented with the Enter your product key dialog box. This dialog box is requesting that you type in your 25-character product key within this field. It is not required that you do this, though, with the product key at this time. If you'd like to demo this Microsoft Office Professional 2007 product you may by simply clicking the Continue key, but it is recommended that if you do have a character code that you enter that now. And if you type in a correct product key for your product you will see a little checkmark; green checkmark, appear to the right of this field. But go ahead, once you see that checkmark, or if you're just demoing the product, click the Continue button. If you are demoing this product you will get the following dialog box for setup. It is recommended, again, that you enter your product key now. But I'm going to go ahead and just say, No I do not want to enter my product key, and move on with my installation. The next dialog box will be: Choose the installation that you want. You can either Install now, and install the entire Suite of Microsoft Office Professional 2007, or if you'd like to customize that by choosing only Excel, or Word, or any of the other office products, you would click Customize. I am going to click Install Now and this will begin the installation process for the Microsoft Office Professional 2007 product. Now this installation process will take anywhere from 20 minutes all the way up to possibly an hour based on the speed of your computer. When it's done you'll get a message that the installation was completed successfully, and if so, click OK and reboot your system. You're now ready to begin using Microsoft Office Professional 2007. Once you have installed the product successfully please move on to the next chapter.
