My name is Cheryl Brumbaugh Duncan, and I am the presenter of this course. Throughout my career I have been committed to education and learning. I have been teaching children and adults through creative techniques, courses, books, online education, and programs for over 25 years. This includes a combination of educational techniques, communication technologies, and various delivery methods that include books, curriculums, Internet and Intranet communication, CD Rom, and lectures. I have a unique background in both education and computers. In the early 1970's through the 1980's I paid my way through college by working as an office manager for a local construction company. I used spreadsheets and word processing daily, and became hooked on computers. Upon graduating from Miami University of Ohio with a BA as well as a Master's degree in education, I began my career teaching children in kindergarten through eighth grade as a computer teacher. In 1992 my writing career began when I co-authored a book on Excel, "Look Your Best With Excel 4 for Windows" for Que Publishing. Using educational theories and concepts, I helped integrate learning techniques that made this book very easy to understand and use. I have been involved with the writing and technical editing process for over 20 computer software related books with DDC Publishing. In 2000, I wrote a bestselling book for Macmillan Publishing, "Flash 5 From Scratch." The Computer Arts Magazine out of the UK recognized this book as one of the best books for learning Macromedia Flash. "Flash 5 from Scratch" has been translated into three other languages worldwide. Then, in 2002 I authored another Macromedia Flash book, "The Flash MX Project" for New Riders Publishing. All my books have done well on the market and have helped many people learn new software products. Today I work for myself through my company, Virtually Global Communications, or VGC. VGC is a web development and design company with a focus in online education. Through VGC I have developed many cutting edge websites, as well as developed many online education courses for companies throughout the United States as well as the world. My commitment to the combination of education, technology, and various delivery methods for communicating information keeps me very busy in this ever changing world of communications and technologies.
