Introduction / Scroll Bars

Subtitles of the Movie

You can use the scroll bars, located along the right side and across the bottom of the Excel screen, to show columns and rows that do not display when you initially open a spreadsheet. By clicking on the down pointing triangle button at the bottom of the scroll bar, I can display one row at a time. If I click and hold on that button, you'll see that the row numbers go by much more quickly. I am now up to row seventy-two. To get back up, to row one, I can then click and drag on the box that moves from the top to the bottom of the scroll bar. If I click and hold on my mouse and drag it all the way back up to the top, I'll come back to row one very quickly. You can do the same to move and display more column letters, by clicking on the right pointing triangle button, I can display one more row at a time. By clicking and holding on that button, the column letters go by much more quickly. As you can see once it goes through the alphabet once, it starts repeating the alphabet, this time using two letters. To get back to cell A1, I'm going to click and drag this box, all the way back to the far left side of the scroll bar. You can also use keystrokes to move throughout a spreadsheet. By pressing the end key once and then the right arrow key once, we will move to the very last column in a work sheet. As you can see there are quite a few columns available. To get to the last row, I'll hit the end key once and then the down arrow. This will take me to row 65536. To return to cell A1, hold down the control key on the keyboard and then press the home key once. As you can see my cell selector has returned to the top left corner of the sheet, in cell A1. lector has returned to the top left corner of the sheet, in cell A1.
