To add a 3 dimensional look to the drawings on your spreadsheet you can add either a shadow to certain objects or a 3 dimensional effect. Let's go back to looking at the word art and seeing how changing the shadow and 3D effects changes the look of this. There are two buttons at the end of the drawing toolbar for changing these things. Note, that you can only have one or the other. So when I click the shadow button, since I have a 3 dimensional effect on my text right now, when I apply a shadow you'll see that the 3D is taken off and only the shadow applies. There are various shadows and shadow styles available. To bring your text to the front more or less, and make it look as if the light is hitting it from different angles. You can also change the severity of the shadow by going to shadow settings at the bottom of this list. Use these buttons to nudge the shadow in different directions, up down, left, right and also to change the colour used to display the shadow. When you finish changing these settings simply close the shadow settings toolbar. The 3 dimensional settings button is the very last button here. Like I said, when we apply a 3 dimensional setting the shadow is going to disappear. So as I click on the 3D button we get the 3 dimensional effect. There are many different effects for 3 dimensional settings depending on the perspectives you'd like to have on the text. As you select different options, you'll see the text or object you're applying it to change. Once you've found the 3 dimensional effect that you like, you can once again go to the 3D settings at the bottom of this list to make more specific changes to it. That means to rotate it or tilt it down farther, up farther and to the right and left - allow you to gain a different perspective on the text. You can also change the depth of the text. Right now we're at 36 points. We can bump it up to a higher amount to make it look very deep or even type in a lower amount than 36. For instance, if I type in 20 here it'll take it to that effect. The next button changes the direction of the 3 dimensional view. Let's say we want it to come at us from a different angle. We can simply click a different button here to change that. I'll change it back to what it was in the middle. Next you can change the way the light seems to be hitting this 3 dimensional box. By simply clicking on one of these lights you'll change where the light is coming from in the 3 dimensional area. This change is very subtle because of the colours that we've chosen here. Next you can change the surface area or the look and feel of how this looks. Wire frame gives you just the outline of the 3 dimensions, the matte is the default(what we've been working with), plastic gives it more of a sheen (once again a very subtle effect)and metal gives it a shinier appearance. This is more apparent when you're using a solid colour for your 3 dimensional effects. Lastly the 3 dimensional colour can be changed with this last button. By clicking on down pointing triangle, you can select from a list of different colours. I'll make our 3 dimensional part a little bit lighter using this feature. When you finish changing your setting simply click the X on the 3D settings toolbar. Remember these last two buttons cannot be used together. You must apply either a shadow or a 3D effect to any graphic or a word art on your spreadsheet. last two buttons cannot be used together.
