There is a special tool in the map toolbar that allows you to drop labels anywhere onto your map. To get the label tool to appear, we need to bring back the map tools by double clicking on our map. The label button looks like a little tag. We'll click to turn this on and then keep it on map feature names for now, and click ok. Now watch carefully as I move my pointer around the map. As I point to areas it labels them for me through a little pop-up box. When I rest my pointer on a state that I've added in my spreadsheet, it displays using the label that I gave to it in the spreadsheet. On the other states it displays with the full state name. All I have to do to label these states I've already placed colour coding in, is to do a single click and a label will drop there. So as I click in each of the states that I've assigned values to, I can very quickly and easily label just those states that I'd like to appear. If you'd like to change those labels for instance, make the labels in California and Florida more bold, turn off the tag or label tool and go back to the select objects tool. Then you can select these things individually simply by clicking on them. Right click and go to format font. I'm simply going to make this text bold so it stands out against the blue a little bit better. When you've finished labelling, once again click outside the map area and allow Excel to redraw it, and take the map tools off of the toolbar. it, and take the map tools off of the toolbar.
