The Collaboration Section of the Microsoft Exam will ask questions regarding your Print Options. Along with knowing the basics behind printing you should be comfortable with Inserting Page Breaks, and with other Print Options. For example, you will be asked to Define a Selected Range as the Print Area. To Add to that Range, to Remove the Range, or to Clear a Print Area. Keep in mind that in Microsoft Excel 2007, when working with Print Previews, we have the ability to also work with Page Layout. Page Layout will take us to the Page Setup section. If I go to Print Preview, in this case I'll go to the Office button, to Print, and to Print Preview. You will notice that I can still get to Page Setup. However, it is necessary to close the Print Preview before going back and editing your actual Spreadsheet. The difference between using the Page Setup on the Ribbon and going into Print Preview is speed. The Ribbon allows me to Edit at the same time. Now when working with Page Setup, Margins will appear, so will our orientation of Portrait and Landscape, and our Sizing of the document. Here, under Size, we can switch between Letter, Legal, and Executive. The Print Area button is where we can actually set the Print Area. Here I'll simply select the information that I'd like to print, go up to the pull-down for a Print Area, and set the Print Area. If I'd like to remove that Print Area, I'll simply Clear it, and then I can reset it again. I also have the ability to put in a Page Break. Now, remember, Microsoft Excel will automatically put Page Breaks in when necessary. If I would like to do a Hard Page Break, I can simply go to Breaks, and Insert a Page Break. When I do, you will notice a dotted line is shown on the screen. To remove it I simply return to Breaks, and Remove the Page Break. Now note: it is necessary to select the Page Break first. In order to do that I go to the cell that is just below the dotted line. It's important to keep that in mind when asked how to remove a Page Break on the examination. Remember first select the Page Break, then Remove the Page Break. I can also set Print Titles. Now, Print Titles allow me to automatically chose what rows repeat at the top, what columns repeat a the left. This is a standard question that could appear. If you do not want to type the rows in, or are unfamiliar with the syntax, simply choose the dialog box, select the row you would like to have appear, go back to the dialog box and now note, the Syntax for Row 1 is the absolute value of 1, the colon means 2, the absolute value of 1. It is important to understand these features for your Print Options. As before we can still go to Print and to Print Preview, and in Print Preview I can still go to Page Setup. However, the key for the examination is remembering that the Page Layout makes the Page Setup Ribbon much more accessible and much faster to work with.
