Let's prepare for the Microsoft PowerPoint portion of the MCAS examination. To do so, let's go through some sample questions. I will first state the question and then pause. After a few seconds I'll state the answer. Let's begin. Our first question; how do you duplicate a slide? You duplicate a slide by going to the Slides Tab in the Overview Pane. Right click the slide and then click Duplicate Slide. How can you record a sound with a microphone in a presentation? Will you use Triggers, Action, Rehearse Timings or Media Clips? Record a sound with a microphone by using Media Clips. How can you create WordArt Text? Create WordArt by going to the Insert Tab in the Text Group. Click the WordArt Button. In the Gallery click the style you want and then type in your text. How do you apply a built-in animation to an object? On the Animations Tab, under Animations, click the Animate Arrow and then select the animation you want from the list. If you'd like to use a heading or a sub-heading from a Microsoft Word document, how will you go about it? Will you go to New and New From Existing, Review Tab and Translate, Microsoft Office Button and Open or Microsoft Office Button and Convert? To use the headings from a Microsoft Word Document, you will go to the Microsoft Office Button and select Open. What are the elements of the Slide Master? The Slide Master Elements are Edit Master, Master Layout, Edit Them, Background, Page Setup and Close. Where's the Spell Checker on the Ribbon? The Review Tab, the Home Tab, the Edit Tab or the Slideshow Tab? The Spell Checker is on the Review Tab Ribbon. What is Image Compression? Image Compression is the process of reducing the size of an image without compromising the quality. Which of the following is not a SmartArt diagram? Pyramid, Hierarchy, Flow Chart or Matrix? The Flow Chart is not a SmartArt diagram. What is the Document Inspector? The Document Inspector is a tool that removes identifying and tracking information before you distribute a presentation. Keep in mind that this removal is known as scrubbing a file. You are adding a new slide that you'll need to insert a picture onto. Which of these layouts should you choose; Blank, Title and Content Title Only or None of the Above. When adding a new slide with a picture, choose the Blank Layout. When using the Slide Pane or the Outline Tab, what does pressing the Tab Key do? Pressing the Tab Key demotes the current item to the next lower level. For example, a bullet point becomes a sub-point. You can also demote titles to bullet points by using the Tab Key. Now, remember, it is important to review the questions frequently to test your knowledge. Keep in mind that you must thoroughly understand each of the features that's been represented by these questions.
