I want to mention that in order to delete things press delete. I have been doing this periodically as I have been working in front of you. All you have to do is select some thing to be deleted and press the delete key and it will go away. That's something to learn just as you should have learned the undo key which is 'z' by now. So when we are actually transforming objects: changing translate, rotate and scale attributes, we should talk about what we are doing in theoretical terms. We going to get into it some more later, but understand that what you are doing is you are affecting the objects pivot, which currently is at the center of the sphere and it is the point that the software places the origin of the manipulator tool at. So when I am moving an object I am in effect 'yes I am moving the object', but I am moving the object's pivot point and that's really important. Likewise I am rotating around the objects pivot point and scaling around the objects pivot point. I bring up the pivot point at this time mostly because the pivot move mode, you can move an object's pivot - I am going to do that right now. On a PC you press the insert key. You will notice that the manipulator changes, it is still the move manipulator - it functions like the move tool. And now I can pull on the x-axis and I have just moved the pivot away from the center of the object. I'll press the insert key again, and that's going to lock the pivot away from the object. Now if I go to the rotate tool you will see that I am rotating around a point i.e. remote, or away from the center of the object and that's the insert key that allows you to go into pivot move mode. Press to insert right now to go into pivot move mode and I press insert to lock out of pivot move mode. On the Macintosh know that this key is the home key - use the home key to do the same thing or to go into pivot move mode. So watch what happens if I scale - you will see that I am scaling and the sphere is also moving away from the pivot, Ok. You saw that if I rotate it - I am rotating but not around the center of the object and if I move, fine yes I am moving, but the pivot of the object is located a few grid units away, in this case in x. To return a pivot to the center of an object you should experiment with this tool. You could try it manually but just go to modify, [00: 02:42] center pivot and you will see that without even having to go into pivot move mode you will now move the - Maya automatically moves the pivot to the center of the object. So you should practice working with the pivot just moving it away from the object, centering it, seeing how the pivot affects the transformation tools or working with the transformation tools. It can be very powerful to position the pivot to perform a scale operation or a rotate operation. And in fact pivots are very very important for animation. So just to review - to go into pivot move mode press the insert key and then operate pivot move as you would the move tool, then press insert to lock your pivot. So that I believe ends this section and we will go on from here. [00: 03: 37]
