Subtitles of the Movie

In this movie let's keep looking at the HTML just a little bit more to make sure that you're on track. Remember this BR is a line break. For line breaks you don't really have to have a beginning and ending tag. Just this ending tag typically works in all browsers any more so you can just do that. Now, this table, that's the end of a table. That's another thing that I want you to look at are these table tags. Right here tr means a table row; td means the table data cell. So that's giving you the data information. Its cell padding and things like that. If you have a border, that's the HTML coding for that information. Here is our heading tags. There's an h3 tag and it's got the word polls so if we go back to our site here and find the word polls, that is a heading 3. That's how you can match that up. That's what heading tags look like. Take a minute, look through different things. Alignment means it's going to be center, left or right. A method typically is going to post that form. As you go through those, know the very basics that I've given you on that sheet and here's one last one I wanted to talk to you about. Here's a link. It's going to Joomla.org. The target right here is blank. That means it's going to open it up in a blank window; where it says This website is Powered by and then of course here it has the text. What you want to do is look through your site and then view the page source and match these things up so you can start learning and understanding HTML. Now, the last thing I wanted to show you on HTML is typically in Joomla! most things are going to come from a style sheet. If you have a specific HTML page where you change information, say this text needs to be red, see how that when I did it, it automatically added style 1 and it's a paragraph? The class is style 1. If I go over here and expand that, see how it shows me the style 1. Its color is this FF and then four zeros. Notice that is in my head tags so it's specific to this page. So it's going to include that information as a very specific style. It'll go through our style sheets but if I have a style applied on this specific page, it's going to be on there and it's going to overwrite any preceding items. So if it was blue before, now it's going to be red because I set that specifically for this one page. We've done a lot with looking at HTML. You've got to learn your basic HTML coding to understand how all this works with the templates. Go back and review the tags. You can use the little cheat sheet that I gave you or you can do a Google search for HTML code. You'll come up with all kinds of sheets you can just print off and refer to them so you can understand this HTML coding.
