Let's review what we've covered in this course. You learned to use Adobe Media Encoder to export files from different video formats to Flash Video and you learned to embed Flash Video files in a web page using Dreamweaver CS4. We started out by examining the Media Encoder CS4 interface and I showed you how to change preferences in Adobe Media Encoder CS4. Most essentially, I showed you how to add files to the queue, the precursor to exporting or editing files in Media Encoder. At the heart of this course we learned to convert media in Adobe Media Encoder. I showed you how to choose from different conversion presets and I showed you how to adjust export formats. For example, on the right we're using a preset to export video to the FLV or F4V format. Along the way I showed you how to extract high-quality TIF images from a video to use as still in a website and how to extract an audio track. For example, on the right we're extracting an MP3 audio track at CD quality 96 kilobytes per second from a movie. Media Encoder has nominal and minimalist editing tools and I showed you how to use them to resize a video, to crop a video and to trim the length of a video by changing the starting point or the ending point. On the right I am cutting 15 seconds off the beginning of the video before converting it for the web. We focused on producing Flash Video files. We discussed the advantages of the FLV format, the high compression, the high quality, the fast downloading and the small file size. We also discussed different options for compressing Flash Video and the discrete process of compressing audio tracks to be exported with your Flash Video file. In the final segment of the course, I showed you how to embed video in Dreamweaver CS4. We focused on embedding Flash Video, FLV files and generating Flash Play skins in Dreamweaver. I also showed you how to edit and adjust the Flash Player parameters that are generated in Dreamweaver and I showed you a couple ways to upload your FLV files to remote servers, either using Adobe Media Encoder or Dreamweaver. Finally we explored the option of embedding QuickTime Video and providing video for iPods. Neither of these environments support Flash in every situation and so we've explored these alternative video formats. I'd love to stay in touch with you and I'd love to hear from you.
