Indesign has a number of strokes available for you to use but did you know that you can create your own. Let me just scroll down here and I'll select this first one here and come over to my stroke palette and if we scroll down you can see all the ones that are available to us here like this. We got slashes and we got thick, thin excerptor like that. However if we go to, I'll select one before I do this, go in here and choose stroke styles, we can hit new and here we can give it a name and we'll call VTC1 and we can choose a dice stroke, a strip stroke, a dotted stroke those are the three options. I'll just go with dice but the principles apply to the rest of them. Here you can change the length of it like this and simply by clicking here you can add a new one, notice this preview down here, you can change the preview weight, you can see how it varies depending on the weight of it, but we can drag it out here out another one in here, now we are limited you can't just put multiple ones here, you see we get this error popping up as soon as we put more then five, but we can just adjust these if we don't want them, you just drag it down, works very much like some of the other palettes in InDesign and when get the style we want like that, just make this one just a tad bigger, drag it away, maybe drag it in closer like this then we can just save it, we can say what the endcaps are like this and we can adjust the caps or adjust the dice's at the corners, how they go there, that one doesn't really work, just gaps, just dices and gaps, drag this over a little bit, click on ok, OK like that and then we come up and we've got our custom stroke, its really too thick to see there at ten points but if we go down to three points you can just see the one that we've just created.
