In Freehand you can also work with professional, standardized color libraries. Rather than creating and clicking your own custom colors, you can work with colors that are a part of a color matching system used around the world. This is probably what you'll most likely be using when you are working with printers. And in order to do those, or view those different libraries, simply go over to your assets panel, drop down the menu, and you 'll see quite a few commercial color libraries that you can work with. In this case I'm just going to pick Pantone solid coated. This pulls up our swatch book for this particular pantone solid coated library. You can scroll through and pick colors if you'd like. If you know what you are looking for you can also type it in. In this case we are trying to find 272, there it is. I'm going to go ahead and select OK, and that is now added to my swatch library. I can then take and apply this color to any object I'd like. Now let's say you want to save these colors to work with for in the next project. So I'm going to just go ahead and use the eyedropper tool and drag another color to our swatch. I want to save this purple and blue to work with for our next project to save me repeating all of these steps again. How do we do that? Let's take a look. We'll go up and choose export from our menu. These are the colors we are going to export. That's fine with me. So I'm going to go ahead and select both of them. I just want to select or export the pantone 272. I'd select it, but I want to work with both, go ahead and click OK. This now gives me another dialog box that allows me to create the name. So I'm going to say corporate colors, gives me a file name. And as well as my viewing preferences, how many colors per column or how many colors per row. I can also type in some notes. We can just go ahead and save that, and then open up this color library at a later session to continue working with those colors.
