The pencil tool allows you to draw as if you had an electronic pencil in your hand. You just click and drag to your heart's content. There is no curves, it is just freehand, freehand drawing, go crazy with it. Now what you can also do is if you hold the alt key down in windows, you can draw lines at whatever angle you would like but notice it is a straight line. Now created almost a line tool. Again if you double click the tool you get the pencil tool dialogue box which allows you to control the precision. I am going to set the precision at a low now, this gives you a number of points that you can use to adjust the line layer. Now if we max this out, go ahead and draw roughly the same line, wow look at all those points we have. You can adjust from a greater precision. Another feature is if you double click, you can draw a dotted line. This allows you just basically to create a dotted line of your path as you are drawing. And then go back and it automatically fills in the line for just a little quicker drawing, not by much, that's the pencil tool.
