Another way you can organize your layers in Freehand is to simply change the color of the layer. Now each of these blue boxes indicates that anything I select on that layer, for instance the blue triangle, is going to have this blue color outline. You can change these colors simply by dragging a swatch from your swatch collection or from the mixer. And let's change this to a different color here, let's pick purple and just simply click and drag and change the layer color to purple. Now this is going to effect every object on that layer, in this case I only have the blue triangle but if we click everything should turn purple. Likewise we can go to our other layers, the orange octagon, and pick another color for that. Try and pick a nice bright red and just click and drag and every object or path outline on this layer will have red. Again this is a helpful tool for helping you organize your layers and objects.
