Subtitles of the Movie

Before we get started let's take a quick look at our workspace. In Freehand you can have the options of pretty much clunking up your workspace with every panel, toolbar, you name it you got it, it's there. Or you can just work with the basic tools and panels that you use frequently when you are working on your illustrations. You have a toolbar, this is free floating. You can position it anywhere you would like, you can also dock it to the top, click and drag it down here. You can also change the width of that. You can also have object panels such as properties, mixture intense layers and assets and answers. In other sections of this CD we'll cover how to adjust each of these as well as look at the different features that each panel provides you. You can get this out of the way by clicking this arrow here and that will collapse the panels; you can also expand the panels like so. If you go to Window, you can view different types of toolbars, main, text, controller, status, info, extra operations, extra tools, envelope, etc. You can also customize those. Again we will get into each of these later on in the tutorials. And last but not least you have your artwork, you have your document right here. There is the name of the document that you are working on. I am going to take the magnifying tool, hold down the alt key and I am going to back out; get a little bird's eye view of what we are working on here. Here we have our page. This is where your artwork goes, just like in any real drawing where you are working with paintbrushes. We also have a paste board area, this is what I call your non-live section. You can have graphics sitting out here that as long as they are not on the page aren't going to print. So just think of this as kind of like your storage area for graphics or text. So that's a quick overview of your work area, let's go ahead and get started with creating some illustrations.
