Macromedia Freehand MX Tutorials

Introduction / Welcome

Subtitles of the Movie

Welcome to Macromedia Freehand MX. You are about to embark on a journey to learn how to use one of most powerful, versatile and fun to use illustration programs. Now Freehand MX is a vector drawn program. What that means is you are allowed to create artwork that uses vectors rather than bitmaps. No matter how you resize it or change shapes, it's always going to pretty much just have a smooth line to it. Freehand is used commonly to create artwork, advertisements, illustrations, logos, newsletters, text documents, charts, 3D objects; you can even create animations with it and best of all it works seamlessly with other programs like Macromedia Fireworks or Adobe Photoshop. And you can also work back and forth between Freehand and Macromedia Flash. Freehand MX also allows you the ability to save your files in a variety of formats including those that you can just post directly to the web. Now this drawing or illustration was created using Freehand MX. Notice that I can have variable strokes, fills, gradations, closed path. You name it, you can do it with Freehand MX. You can also create multiple pages to work with newsletters and your reports, brochures or other documents. And best of all it all stays in one document rather than having, for every new page, a new document. Freehand also lets you work in layers; I could go on. It's an exciting program so sit back, relax and prepare to learn all about Freehand MX.
