Once you've created a basic shape or a path with points on the canvas, you may have to go back later and edit them. I'm going to go ahead and create a basic shape, also a simple vector path using the freeform tool, and finally align with the pen tool. So we have a basic shape here, a freeform path, as well as an object that we created using the pen tool. If we select each one of these objects, you notice that the points when they are selected, light up as blue dots. Using the sub selection tool we can modify those points, once the object is selected. Simply click on the point you want to modify, and you can just drag and move it as you need to. You can also convert a straight segment to a curved segment and vice versa by converting its point. With this selected, I am going to select the pen tool and then click on the middle point, and then drag my cursor to the right still holding down the mouse button. And you can see we have handles that have appeared. And we can now alter the shape of this segment. I will go ahead and release it. And now we have a nice curve where we had a straight line before. Also using the pen tool, you can add or delete points on a path. I will go ahead and select our path here, then our pen tool. And if I select anywhere where there is not a point, we can create other points on the path. In addition if I select a point, I can also remove it. You can also join two open paths together. I will select this path, then the sub selection tool. And I am just going to bring this line down to the very last point of the other path. And now we have joined these two paths together. The freeform tool allows you to bend and reshape vector objects directly instead of manipulating points. You can push or pull any part of a path regardless of where the points are located. Fireworks automatically adds, moves or deletes points along the path as you change the vector object shape. Go ahead and select the freeform tool, and you can see we can move or actually push various vector points along this path. I can also select a group of points and pull them as I need to. The reshape tool is used to pull the area of all selected paths within the outer circle of the reshape area pointer. With that selected, you can see we can pull and push accordingly. And all the points along the path are reshaped as we move our mouse along the canvas. The knife tool allows us to slice a path into two or more paths. I am going to go ahead and select this rather complex path we have with a series of points, and then select the knife tool. And I am going cut right here, and this is the segment that we joined earlier to this existing segment. I will go ahead and slice this section here, and one more right here. Now I'll select the pointer tool, and you can see we now have 4 separate paths that have been sliced using the knife tool. .0] Now I'll select the pointer tool, and you can see we now have 4 separate paths that have been sliced using the knife tool.
