The tools panel is organized into six categories. Select, bitmap, vector, web, colors and view. In pervious versions of Fireworks, you had to switch between the vector and bitmap modes. Now you just simply select the tool you want, and begin using it. The application understands what you are trying to do, and applies the tool appropriately. When you choose a tool, the property inspector displays the tools options. So tool options remain displayed as you work with the tool. For other tools however, such as the basic shape pen, line tools, the property inspector displays the properties of selected objects. Some tools have a small little triangle that appears in the lower right hand corner of the tool. This indicates that this tool is a part of a tool group. By simply holding down the mouse button, you can select other tool options. For example, the rectangle tool is also part of a basic shape tool group. Which is also includes the rounded rectangle, ellipse tool, and polygon tool. To choose other tools from a tool group, simply hold down the mouse button and select other tool choices. he mouse button and select other tool choices.
