Panel management enhancements include the ability to place panels in groups and then collapse the groups, so that only the panel group title bar is visible until you need to use the panels. You can dock panels groups in the panel docking area to organize your workspace, or drag groups or individual panels anywhere you want to within the workspace. The new property inspectors are dynamic panels full of options that change the way you do your work. Open a document, and the property inspector displays the document properties such as the canvas color and size. Choose a tool from the tool panel, and the property inspector displays the various tool options. Select a vector object or bitmap object, and it displays additional information. You can change these and other options including live effects, blending modes, opacity directly from the property inspector. Instead of having to click through or reopen panels after panel. Fireworks now has modeless bitmap and vector editing, eliminating the need to constantly keep up with the vector and bitmap modes. On screen text allows you to visually integrate text and graphics without having to use the text editor. Simply choose the text tool, click on the canvas and start typing. In the property inspector, you can either set text attributes for the text tool before you began typing, or highlight existing text and then format it. Variable zooming lets you drag the magnify tool to determine the precise magnification amount. After you drag to magnify your document, the magnification amount is displayed in the set magnification text box at the bottom of the document. Users with Windows XP or Macintosh OSX will see new compatibility, which takes advantage of the latest operating systems. Fireworks MX is fully carbonized to support all of OSX user interface improvements. XHTML exporting allows you to export, update, and round-trip XHTML in the same styles Fireworks offers for HTML. Fireworks now has a spell checker that searches every text block in your document for misspelled words. When it finds a word it doesn't recognize, it offers suggestions for correcting it, or allows you to add it to you dictionary. Fireworks maintains the appearance of all text in a document on systems that do not have the same fonts in the document. Fireworks MX now offers a powerful new creative and automation features that emerging web designers will find easy to use, and experienced developers will appreciate. The data driven graphics wizard allows you to assign variables to text, images, hotspots and slices.
