Library Items / Editing Library Items

Subtitles of the Movie

In this lesson, we will see how you can edit a library item. There are two ways of doing this. You can either use the assets panel or the Properties window window window window window inspector. With the library item selected in the assets panel, I will click the button edit. This now opens up the library file. If you are familiar with HTML, you will notice the first tag in the tag selector is table. Library items do not have body or head containers since they are inserted into the body of web pages. This is similar to work with server side includes; however, as you will see later library items have some powerful additional features. Let us create links from the buttons to some web pages. To do this, I will resize this window and I will show the site window. I will select the first button and I will display the Properties window window window window window inspector. Now using pointer file I will create a link to the rockets page. I will do the same for robots and action figures. Now, if I save the library item, Dreamweaver prompts to see if we wish to perform some updates. This is because in the previous lesson we inserted an instance of the library item in the HTML pages, rockets, robots, and action figures. At present these instances do not contain the hypertext links. Clicking the button update will automatically write these to each of the instances of the library item used throughout the website. I will click close and I will close the library item. To test this I will preview the page. Now if I click on robots, the robots page will display. . Now if I click on robots, the robots page will display.
