Macromedia Contribute 2 Tutorials

Contribute Customization / Contribute Extensibility

Subtitles of the Movie

Let us talk a little bit about extensibility. Now if you are familiar with the concept of extensibility through other MX programs like Dreamweaver, Flash or Fireworks, you will understand that it is a powerful way of adding what I like to call modules to your application that allows you to extend or modify how you work. And now some common extensions I know from Fireworks would include the ability to do some different batch processing of images and basically if you want to think of almost like custom commands that you can add to your program. Now through Macromedia's website or section of the website called Macromedia Exchange and using the extension manager you can add these different extensions or modules to your application. Unfortunately at this time there is no Macromedia Exchange for Contribute2. The older version of Contribute does not support extensions either. Now if you are handy with HTML, JavaScript and XML you can create your own custom extension for Contribute, but that is beyond the scope of this tutorial. So if you are looking for extensions keep your fingers crossed will hope Macromedia will add that ability later on in the next version or up coming upgrades of Contribute. ]
