In this lesson I'm going to give you a very brief overview of the functions of each Command Centre. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail because we'll actually be using these Command Centres throughout the rest of this course and you'll gain a more thorough understanding of them as we go along. If you were using MYOB Accounting Plus 18 you should see seven Command Centres here. If you're using MYOB Accounting 18 you'll only see five. I'm going to touch on all of them, though, so that we cover all versions. The first one here is the Accounts Command Centre and it does two things. First it allows you to manage money within your business by accessing your accounts, transferring money, planning the best use of your available funds with the Money Controller, and viewing your Transaction Journal, which shows you every transaction performed by your business in a nice, easy-to-use format. Second, the Accounts Command Centre allows you to take care of tasks like submitting your Business Activity Statement using Baslink, sending your financial information to your accountant, and running the company Data Auditor to ensure that your Company File is free of errors. I need to point out at this time that in this area of MYOB the term Accounts does not mean your bank accounts. Accounts in MYOB are simply categories that are used to organise your money. Your bank accounts are addressed in the Banking Command Centre, which we'll cover now. This Command Centre helps to manage transactions between your company and financial institutions. You can use this area to spend money, receive money, set up electronic payments, print checks, and send remittance advices. This Command Centre also lets you prepare bank deposits, reconcile your accounts and again, view your Transaction Journal. This is the same Transaction Journal link from the Accounts Command Centre and you'll find that this link is included in all of the Command Centres except the Card File Command Centre. The Transaction Journal is a useful tool that I use very frequently to quickly locate past transactions, so the people at MYOB have made it easy to get to in each of the Command Centres. Next up is the Sales Command Centre and this one is very self-explanatory. We use this Command Centre to enter and process all of our sales. Here we can create and send invoices, statements, receive payments, and print receipts. We also have the Transaction Journal link and a nice little tool called the Sales Register. Using this we can quickly locate a previous entry by searching through All Customers, a specific Customer, and using a Date Range. Next up is Time Billing, and we use this Command Centre for time-based activities such as service calls, for example. The amount we charge for these depends on the amount of time that the calls take, and we have all the tools to manage this in this Command Centre. Now, you're probably getting the hang of how these Command Centres are organised now, so I'll move a bit quicker through the rest of them. Moving on to Purchases, here is where we can take care of things like paying bills, making electronic payments, and printing checks, sending remittance advices, and generating purchase orders. Next, we have Payroll. We use this Command Centre to manage everything financial involving our employees. We can manage Time Sheets, Electronic Payments and Checks, Payslips, Payment Summaries, and we can also pay any liabilities and superannuation here. Inventory is next. If your business carries stock or inventory items, you can manage your Items List, Current Inventory Levels and Prices, and Record Incoming Inventory as Items Received. And finally we come to the Card File Command Centre. As I covered in another lesson, MYOB uses Cards to manage your contacts and we can access these cards and their associated Contact Logs from here. We can also print mailing labels from here as well as create personalised letters. And to wrap this lesson up there's one thing present in each of these Command Centres that I haven't mentioned yet, and that is the M-Powered Services Centre. From any of these Command Centres we can click this in the lower right-hand corner and we're taken to this window where we can manage our M-Powered Transactions. I'll be covering M-Powered Services in more detail later on in this course, so for now, let's move on to the next lesson.
